Whilst we have suggested age groups as a guide for the following R.A.D Ballet classes, as the levels increase, so does the expected levels of experience and hours required. With this in mind we assess age, level of experience and physical development to help us find the right class for your student. Royal Academy of Dance Levels at EDS

RAD Pre Primary - 5 yrs

RAD Primary - 6 yrs

RAD Grade 1 - 7 yrs

RAD Pre Grade 2 - 8 yrs

RAD Grade 2 - 8-9 yrs

RAD Grade 3 - 10 yrs

RAD Grade 4 - 11-12 yrs

RAD Grade 5 - 13 yrs

RAD Inter Foundation - 14 yrs (Pointe work included - see policy below)

RAD Intermediate - 15 - 16 yrs (Pointe work included - see policy below)

ACROBATICS

In order to enrol in our Acro Level 1 and 2 classes students will be required to achieve a number of skills. Please see the list of skills required for the following classes.

2026 Requirements for Acrobatics Level 1 & 2

Level 1

Age group: Intermediate, Pre Senior, Senior 

Skill requirements: 

1. Unassisted handstand 

2. Cartwheel both sides 

3. Round off

4. Unassisted held bridge 

5. At least - one side for splits

6. Unassisted bridge walk 

7. Handstand to bridge (straight over)

8. Unassisted headstand

9. Unassisted front walkover

Level 2

Age group: Intermediate, Pre Senior, Senior 

Skill requirement:

1. All skills mentioned in level 1

2. Front walkover - Unassisted 

3. Back walkover - Unassisted

4. Front handspring - Unassisted

5. One handed cartwheels 

6. Straddle handstand into bridge 

7. Side ariel - Assisted/ Unassisted 

8. Back handspring - Assisted/ Unassisted

Elevation Dance Studios Company Classes

Our EDS Company Class is an invitation only class for students who embody the values of our studio, demonstrate technical proficiency and excellence in performance quality.

This class is designed to push our students to explore different methods, genres, and teaching styles. Therefore, a possible company candidate is expected to take as many classes as possible to meet the physical and theatrical demands of this class.

The current class criteria for potential company members are:

1 - 2 Ballet classes

1 - 2 Jazz classes

1 - 2 Contemporary classes

1 x Technique or different EDS style

Whilst we value all styles at Elevation, we believe a minimum of 4 classes from the above list will provide our students with the strong foundation required for our Company class.
